失而復得 Lost and found
The problem with packing and shipping your things overseas is trying to find things many months later when you unpack all your boxes.
When you originally start packing, every box is packed in an organised way : kitchen, bedroom, clothes, shoes, living room, books, CDs … then you have a miscellaneous box which includes all sorts of random things that doesn’t have a home. And finally in order to fill up all the spaces, small items just get pushed into all available gaps. What started out as an organised packing process eventually ends up as a ‘just shove it all in the boxes’ excercise.
We only shipped 26 boxes over to Taiwan, not many compared to some families we know. As I unpacked my shipment nearly three months since I last saw them, I was looking for some specific small items wondering where they could be. After a while I gave up thinking I must have given or threw them away as they were miscellaneous baking things.
Today I attempted to make mango sago dessert for the second time. I failed miserably the first time as I couldn’t even cook the sago properly. Anyway, this time I got to the stage where I needed to blend my mango in with the coconut milk. Imagine my delight when I took out my blender from the box and saw all these bits and pieces that I’ve been looking for all along !!
Sometimes it really doesn’t take much to make my day. And now I can finally bake my vanilla flavour pound cake again.
