十年 Ten Years

十年 Ten Years

Yesterday I went to the cinema for the first time in Taiwan.  The cinema is from the past as its old, the movie is about the future as its a speculation.

The movie is called Ten Years, a controversial movie about what Hong Kong may become like in ten years time, nearly thirty years after it reverted to China rule. The movie has divided public opinion.  Some say its a scaremonger, whilst others say they can already feel these changes gradually happening particular in light of various political repressions in recent years.

Freedom of speech and freedom of press are two fundamental rights in Hong Kong that many are fighting very hard to preserve.  Ten Years represents the concerns of these people and their determination to fight for their rights.

A rather obese guy was sitting in front of me in the cinema yesterday.  He slept throughout the entire movie snoring extremely loudly.  I wonder how many people in Hong Kong still sleep peacefully every night like him oblivious of the changes around us?
